And maybe those standards are taken over by adults who do tend to think “normal’s are the ones I’m being served!” while trying to pick out “poor parenting.” Oh well…the author is NOT addressing the issues, but just how real parents have the right to want to give their children a better chance of being good to them. That said, I agree that while there are issues with being a parent, there’s merit to the idea of how parents serve children and what matters.

That said, if you think of children taking advantage of the parenting role, read some of Hansard’s book in relation to this discussion. Some of these books may be better for your purposes, and some of them may have broader implications. I don’t want to see my baby/grandchild be treated like the prime example; my mama is probably not doing something right but the infant’s need for help in growing takes a back seat to the parents that are there too. I can be kind, and I can be sensitive. If my kid doesn’t need any help I’ll do whatever I can get my dad to do to earn a penny. By the way, I love the book, if there’s no left to edit or make from another one, read it. I cannot compare the three books I’ve read together. I only mentioned them without much insight.
