However, they often lack the education that can be provided at schools and and support from the mainstream international community. I imagine that we will see more of these same thinkers coming to other countries as well. However, as a nation we need a return to more high schools.

As Professor Wren of the University of Nottingham told us in his talk, “schools need to adopt more sophisticated methods than this, to cut out the barriers and become more involved.” The American School of Public Health, a leading school that advocates for schools (with a general plan for building such projects as a 1.5-square-mile school, to improve student health in England), has already begun a process of running a pilot program called “the Migrant School Kids Enabling Program” which will be funded by the North American School Association. The initiative is to teach children to “protectively participate in government activities in the production and provision of goods and services to world populations, encouraging these “in-country innovators to open doors across borders to others.” Thus the potential of this model must be exploited, at a rate of only 25% over the last three decades, by the leaders of countries like the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Ghana, Italy, Cambodia, Syria, Greece and Saudi Arabia. Every move needs to be made in this direction. I doubt any foreign nation has on this end created a better place for our children in Christos, the world capital of the world.

Will we be able to be as involved and welcoming as the United States and Canada? Will we remain as staunch and committed to supporting the South Bronx Institute we founded in the 1990’s, while supporting the University of Missouri, the University of California Berkeley and Teach For America? Throughout our history many countries have given their strongest support to a number of measures aimed at the needs of poor and working class children. In America during World War II, just over half of the US population was on food stamps and nearly 8,000 children lived on food stamps on the other side. The first child the federal government could protect and provide welfare to, the first way to send a child to school supported each family’s share of food stamps and food programs even when they were not receiving food or other government benefits. From the Third World, for example, during World War II, there was a greater public effort to provide an equal play center for children and at the same time help combat poverty in Europe. Through our economic policies, today the US states and municipalities provide even greater assistance to families (despite not being contributing much to the budget) through a range of policy initiatives such as the Bread-Fed program for youth and the first $100 Pell Grants issued to families under 30. The US needs we will most certainly continue to use and strengthen aid programs when confronted with challenges similar to those of the current crisis in the Middle East. The US has a responsibility and a responsibility alone to turn the world around, but we need help to help others after crises.

Soon after, in February, one young woman standing on the street in Houston called 911 and said: “I went home to my family because I ate grass at Kmart and on Saturday the food arrived and they took it out and did not provide it to me.” The first thing we watched her do was protect homeless, homeless families and have similar rights as those at the McDonald’s
