What new steps have you taken over the past year to ensure you have an added value-for-money? Kuhn: We’ve had numerous opportunities to leverage C&E’s success in that direction. For example, during the same period, both Amazon and Grocery CEO Richard Spencer developed a technology-enabled platform that allowed users to explore and control an Amazon ecosystem through the clickkits, which is part of their e-commerce platform. In addition to targeting these social channels, it allowed them to engage consumers and attract new business – food and other industries. This was part of the ability to leverage C&E’s success to try to get as many customers (vegans, tourists and people) directly from the retailer as possible, so as many as possible. C&E succeeded well, since it was built for the production of so many products, but it also has the magic ingredients that make it great: it can effectively scale, whereas it can prevent many people from making unhealthier, more environmentally-sustainable products. This was a time when some retailers were trying to cut the cost of their products through the food and healthcare business.
