Henderson Baskein __NOTOC__ The Henderson Baskein was a Swiss painting made in 1813 by Johann Gottfried Wilhelm Bromwich Baskein (1827–1888), when he left it under the name Carl Maria Baskein. In the German style he has been described as a “bridal image” in the Vienna style, and his paintings show his likeness between the upper and lower sections of a bordello. Baskein’s style was influenced by Robert Rauschenberg’s 1847 sketch “De Pore des Mises”. Baskein’s early work was attributed to the duchy of Steenheim and was largely rebranded under Rosane in 1949. By the 1970s, more of his works were done (excluding his “Portrait of P. G. P.

Geburt (1951) , in his 1961 painting The Concerning the Other House (later translated into English as “The Other House”), featured him as a young man from Alsace. But even before Baskein’s name was banned he made numerous paintings of him and similar artists, mostly of French, English and German artists. And he tried to get books for Alsace in order to make his paintings. But few of the French artists who commissioned Baskein to paint seem to have any other strong ties to France that would persuade a Danish journalist to go with him, who suggested that Baskein might have been present in this area. Charles Sölder wrote that Baskein made works of “self-discipline, self-congratulation” in such a way that “his ideal interpretation has caused him to realize almost nothing of human nature”. His paintings include: La Rose de Castelcolle (1851); Chez Joseph avec de Mures (1852); La Rive en Lame (1853); La Vague et la Nouvelle Art (1853); La Monnaie des Pays de Soste (1854); La Goutte et l’Echo de Montserrat (see Pictures of Paine) All these works from Baskein were condemned by the Danish state. However, the painter Baudelaire began using the term “discipliné” (in German) in 1906 to describe Baskein’s style.
